Pearland Theatre Guild: We believe in Arts, Involvement, and Education 

We are a vibrant theatre organization bringing artists and audiences from all over the local Pearland and Houston area.  As a growing semi-professional theatre organization, we strive for multi-dimensional impact:

• We will enrich the community's cultural opportunities with diverse local and regional creative artists providing high-quality theatrical experiences.

• We will build cooperation between organizations, artists, producers, and educators.
• We will foster performing arts education for various populations, including students, retirees, and youth.
• We will help to build an increasingly vibrant Pearland arts scene with offerings for all members of our community.
• We will generate a tradition of arts entertainment, understanding,and enjoyment to succeeding generations in the Pearland area and beyond.

Be a Part of Pearland History: Towards a Theater in Pearland

We are looking to opening Pearland's first black box theater.  This establishment will house not only the Pearland Theatre Guild, but provide space for classes and workshops for both children and adults as well as art exhibits, concerts, and visiting artists.  Local artist groups will have a home stage, and citizens would be able to enjoy diverse performance arts in an intimate setting. This new theater will have the potential to dramatically improve the quality of life here in Pearland and expose the community to a range of artists, while bringing additional income into the community. 

The Pearland Theatre Guild is fine-tuning its programming approach, courting community and corporate interests, and maturing its fundraising efforts. Still much remains to be accomplished. Our goal is to achieve financial stability but as in the majority of non-profit community performing arts centers, the reality is that operating income covers only 50-60% of operating expenses. We are relying on generous commitments from our community and corporations to provide this financial support so that we have ample funds to fulfill our mission.

Imagine

Imagine a place where local performing groups finally have a home stage and the community can offer programming suggestions, participate on the board and on committees, and educate themselves culturally. . Can you imagine being a part of the thrill of peeking from behind a curtain into a full house that excites performers to act, direct, write? Will you be in the audience?

Education

The educational impact  is strong and clear.  We have the potential to bring theatre to the community.  To educate them in the art forms and to engender a lifelong love of the fine arts. We hope to spread literacy and a sense of lifelong learning with such programs as reader's theater and youth classes in Shakespeare. Our vision is to offer even more, like arts service projects, create a children's theatre, and to work with the local districts and teachers to collaborate on interactive learning projects involving the stage and contributing to the development of lifelong learners.   

Economy

Economic development occurs when our audiences patronize the area restaurants and hotels in conjunction with attending one of our shows. Most people go to the theater and "make a night of it" by going to dinner beforehand and enjoying cocktails after.  This means more customers and dollars in our Pearland establishments.    In addition, we hope to provide local charities with a great opportunities and a choice venue for fundraising. 

Home

A hometown theater for Pearland is on the horizon.  The Pearland Theatre Guild aims to become a central part of lives in our area, whether it is through a date night,  an internship, a family event, or a resource for performers, artists, and technicians. When we open our new establishment, locals not only have the space to relax and really engage a performer, but they will have the space, the venue, to dream what might happen next in this, their community space. We envision enraptured children, engaged adults, and the creation of valuable educational, cultural and community opportunities.
